CVC WORDS / WRITE FOR US

Write for us

Share practical, original advice on teaching early reading with parents and teachers. Here is what we look for and how to pitch.

We welcome original, practical articles that help adults teach children to read CVC words and the skills around them. This page explains what we look for, how we review pitches, and how to send one.

Who reads CVC Words

Our readers are parents, caregivers, homeschoolers, tutors and classroom teachers of young children, mostly in the United States. They want clear, practical help they can use the same day, without jargon.

Topics we are interested in

  • teaching blending, segmenting and spelling with CVC words
  • phonics routines and activities for home or class
  • supporting children who find early reading hard
  • early reading for multilingual families and English learners
  • classroom experience with decodable words and texts
  • what comes after CVC words: blends, digraphs and silent e
  • making or adapting printable practice materials

If your idea is related but not on this list, pitch it anyway and explain why it would help our readers.

Quality standards

  • Useful first. The reader should be able to do something with your article straight away.
  • Accurate and sourced. Support factual claims about research, standards or data with a link to the original source. Clearly separate your own experience and opinion from established facts.
  • Honest about experience. Tell us your real name and relevant background. We will check any credentials you mention before we publish them.
  • Clear writing. Short sentences, plain US English and examples. Around 800 to 1,500 words is usually right.
  • Safe for a family audience. Our readers include teachers and parents of young children.

Originality

Articles must be your own original work and not published anywhere else, including your own blog. Don’t submit copied, spun or lightly rewritten content. If you used AI writing tools, tell us how. You remain responsible for every fact in the piece. We check submissions for copied text and unsupported claims.

What we won’t accept

  • spam, bulk pitches or articles written mainly to place links
  • copied or previously published content
  • misleading claims, such as guaranteed reading results, invented statistics or false credentials
  • hidden advertising or undisclosed commercial relationships

Editorial review

Every pitch and article is reviewed before anything is published. We may ask for changes, edit for accuracy, clarity, length and style, add or remove links, or decline a piece at any stage. Submitting a pitch or article does not guarantee publication, and we can’t promise a response time. If we publish your article, we will credit you with a short author bio.

Links in articles

Links must genuinely help the reader, and we decide which links an article includes and how they are marked. We don’t sell links, and we don’t promise any particular kind of link.

Commercial submissions and disclosure

If you, or a business you represent, would benefit from the article, tell us in your pitch. That includes being paid to write it or promoting your own product, course or service. We decide case by case whether to consider it. Any published piece with a commercial relationship will be labeled clearly as sponsored or as including a relationship with the author, and links will be marked to match. Failing to disclose a relationship is grounds for rejection or removal.

  2. Include a working title, a three-to-five-point outline, who the article is for, a sentence about your background, and links to one or two published samples.
