Turn a theme into practice

Pick four or five words from one list and use them all week. Read them on cards, spell them in sound boxes, and hide them around the room for a word hunt. The worksheet builder uses the starter list, so for themed words, print the roll-and-read sheet and write your words over it.

The “not CVC” words are useful too. Children love holiday words, so read them aloud together and talk about why they are harder. It is a friendly way to preview blends, digraphs and vowel teams.
